I'm pretty sure the logs are in UTF-8, but if you view them with a Windows-1252 encoding, you definitely get weird strings like that.

I'm guessing you're not on Chrome? (It displays fine for me in Chrome.) Possibly Firefox? If you open the page, then open up the top menu (you might have to press Alt – the menu has "File", "View" and so on), then go to "View", then "Text Encoding", and set it to "Unicode" instead of "Western", it should show up as I assume it was intended: "Ténië"

My use case for the log is apparently "see in summary that somebody was talking about my stuff, go look for that" but if the same "my stuff" comes up several times and the log is always concatenated it'll be unsearchable (by content) eventually, and topics seem too scattered around for searching by date to be efficient. Searching for a date and then scrolling down to the applicable times? Dates are in the format "Apr 26 2016" and so on, so you should be able to find the applicable day without too much difficulty, and then scrolling down to the approximate time range? I know you said it wouldn't be efficient, but that's the only solution I can think of.

With the other logs that sonatagreen seems to have, they've been split up after a certain length / certain amount of time, so I hope it at least won't get too ridiculous. I'm not sure of an easy way to make the first bit simpler unless the logs get modified to be HTML and have anchor tags and stuff and I start putting links in the timestamps of the logs to the applicable parts, which sounds like a lot of effort.

This needs to be fixed on the server. The “Content-Type” should be “text/plain;charset=utf-8” but it is currently “text/plain”; I checked.
