Well the traditional question for this thread is sorting the hogwarts houses your characters got in, but that would take a while...

The sorting hat did not sort him, because he went to Durmstrang.

Cordelias might be Muggles. They probably aren't British either way.

I would also like a Suranse reference, should I make the thread (maybe even collect the existing stuff?) to provide a trivial impetus?
The WAFFLES will submit to this indignity.

No, I need to be the one who makes the thread because that way I'll be able to edit the first post. But thank you for the thought. XD

Would you care to say more about “the fae-like creatures that need to participate in narratives to survive”?

So, the not-fae!

They might deserve their own worldbuilding thread, but here's the shortish version:

There is a species(? I'm not sure how they reproduce) of eldritch beings with powerful magic. They have a fae-like aesthetic but I don't want to call them fae or anything that sounds like fae so they've been working-titled "not-fae".

They need a specific kind of attention from human or humanlike minds in order to survive; "need to participate in narratives" is one possible summary of what kind. Another way of putting it would be: they need humanlike minds to parse their actions (or mostly-accurate descriptions of their actions) as a narrative and find that narrative emotionally compelling on its own merits. Analogous forms of attention from other not-fae don't work. Otherwise-appropriate forms of attention from humans being mind-controlled into having the right reactions don't work.

Also, they really, really don't understand humans. They have an incredibly hard time figuring out how we tick.

All together, this leads to... interesting... sets of strategies.

Somewhere on the planet where not-fae live, there is a region where the local not-fae are divided into a Good team and an Evil team and locked in an eternal struggle which is 100% a show for the benefit of local humans. They don't kill humans much if they can avoid it (killing humans is Very Bad because it means fewer humans which means less attention to go around), but the Evil team does do things construed to be Evil. It wouldn't be as emotionally compelling if they didn't.

Somewhere else on that planet, there is a region where the local humans live in paradise, all their needs provided for by magic, with broad-strokes emotional manipulation encouraging them to be generally happy with their lives - the not-fae don't understand people well enough to do anything finesse-y, but they can manage "make everyone here more contented than they would have been otherwise" - and the local not-fae meddle incessantly in their social drama and sustain themselves on the resulting gossip.

I haven't pinned down their magic system completely, but I think they can do illusions and matter manipulation and assorted other powerful stuff, and one thing they can definitely do is personally appear in any physical form they choose.
